INTERNATIONAL MASTER Oliver Dimakiling is setting his sights in competing abroad in August following his successful conquest of the recent Engr. Blas Hipulan and Deep Blue Cafe Chess Open Tournament in SM City Cebu, over the weekend.
The pride of Davao City Dimakiling, undefeated in the tough nine Round Swiss tournament of the Engr. Blas Hipulan and Deep Blue Cafe Chess Open Tournament, seeks his third GM norm in the 10th Malaysian Chess Festival 2013 from August 9 to 19 at the Cititel Mid Valley in Kuala, Lumpur, Malaysia.
"I hope to do well in Malaysian Chess Festival 2013," said Dimakiling who beat National Master Rustum Tolentino of CDO in the eight and penultimate round and Voltaire Sevillano of Cebu in the ninth and final round of the NCFP sanctioned tournament Engr. Blas Hipulan and Deep Blue Cafe Chess Open Tournament to went home the top prize of P40,000.
Dimakiling and IM Rolando Nolte failed their GM title bid during the DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah Invitational KL Masters 2013 last June 13 to 21 at the at the Swiss Inn Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dimakiling is also the gold medal winner in the blitz event of the this year's PSC-POC Philippine National Games held in PUP Sta. Mesa Manila.
Meanwhile, this year it will be a FIDE rated event with possibilities of title norms according to the organizing committee of the 10th Malaysian Chess Festival 2013.The following events will be held from August 9 to 19:

2) 4th KLK Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng International Seniors Open Chess Championship 2013

5) 4th SWENSEN'S Open Rapid Age-Group Chess Championship 2013
and the usual Festival Blitz Opens.
